“Visit the Past but Don’t Stay There” is a soft yet textured abstract portrait painting that explores memory, healing, and quiet strength. Award-winning artist Shakia Harris uses palette knives and expressive brushwork to layer texture and communicate emotion.
A sweeping blue gown flows across the canvas in loose, painterly strokes of dusty blue, slate, muted teal, and soft lavender-gray. Warm neutral tones and textured purple & ivory backgrounds create softness and space, allowing the painting to feel calm and contemplative.
The faceless figure invites viewers to see themselves within the work, while visible palette knife marks and layered oil texture add movement and vulnerability.
