The messiest parts of life are often the most beautiful—and this painting is proof of that. I started this painting soon after unexpectedly moving into a new studio space.
I used a palette knife to create bold strokes and heavy textures. I wanted each lemon to feel alive, almost touchable, while the drips—one of my signature elements—add rawness and imperfection. The sky-blue background was my way of creating calm amidst the chaos.
The painting title is drawn from a Tyler, The Creator song from his Chromakopia album. Tyler, the creator's music has a way of making you sit with your emotions—joy, chaos, and everything in between. I channeled that energy into this painting.
The bold lemons represent life’s brightest moments, but the drips and runs symbolize the vulnerability and messiness of the journey home.
