My Heart Is Waking Up was inspired by a deeply personal season in my life. Creating while becoming a mother for the third time, rebuilding close family relationships, learning to forgive, and slowly beginning to feel like myself again.

There are seasons when parts of us become quiet. We take care of everyone else, move through difficult experiences, and sometimes lose touch with the person we were before.

This painting came from the feeling of those parts of me beginning to wake up again, choosing to forgive, and more importantly be kinder to myself.

The flowers in a way became a reflection of that experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed using expressive & loose brushwork to give the painting a sense of movement and emotion. These gorgeous peonies and roses are represented with warm neutrals, blush pinks, creamy whites, mauves, and earthy tones to keep it soft and inviting.

This painting will especially resonate with collectors who have experienced the quiet transformation of finding their way back to themselves.
