Live Wedding Painting FAQ – What to Expect
Will we sign a contract?
Yes. I require a signed contract & deposit to secure your date. If you have any questions, email shakiaharrisart@gmail.com.
What's required to book my wedding or event?
I require a 40% non-refundable deposit upfront to secure your date. We’ll discuss your desired payment increments, and you’ll receive invoices until the balance is paid in full prior to your event.
Do you offer payment arrangements?
Absolutely! We'll discuss how you'd like to split payments leading up to your event. You'll receive invoices via email to complete payments.
I want to get married on a holiday. Is there a difference in price?
Events scheduled on U.S. federal holidays require a holiday booking fee due to increased travel demand and limited holiday availability.
How long will you attend the event?
Live painting sessions will last around 6-8 hours. I'll arrive beforehand to set up and sketch. Afterwards, I spend anywhere from 15 to 100 hours in the studio refining the painting.
What if you're already booked?
You can still book a commission. I'll ask for photo references to best understand your vision. Learn more
What if the event is rescheduled or cancelled?
In the event of a postponement, cancellation, or date change, I will make every effort to attend. If that’s not possible, then with notice (per our contract) the client will receive the balance paid minus the deposit, or 100% of the paid balance converted into a gift card and applied towards a custom painting or other purchase at shakiaharrisart.com. All terms are covered in the contract.
What type of paint do you use?
I use professional-grade oil paints. Acrylics typically dry fast with a matte or chalky-like finish. Whereas oils take longer to dry and allow for a more natural, elevated, and lustrous finish.
Why are live paintings more than studio commissions?
Live painting packages include many variables that aren't involved with typical studio commissions. The majority of my studio commissions can be completed in a third of the time it takes to complete a live painting from start to finish.
Painting live is complex and requires performing artist event insurance coverage, significant attention to detail, and working in changing conditions. Price also accounts for supplies, equipment, lighting, additional revisions, sketches, and other associated costs.
Do you only paint people?
Goodness no! I'm known for my bright and grandiose floral & landscape paintings. If you would prefer a landscape or floral painting live, we will discuss that before your event. I'm extremely flexible.
